Neal is passionate about developing leaders and teams that make a difference in their churches, communities, and cities.
He planted Howell Community Church in Howell, New Jersey in 1987-1997. He moved to Charlotte to help plant a network of churches that resulted in six new starts with 2700 in total attendance and over 1,600 baptisms. Neal also has experience in denominational missions and church planting strategy.
He is co-founder of The Cypress Project. The Cypress Project encourages the multiplication of missionary disciples, leaders, and churches aimed at reaching people and transforming communities. Neal has led coaching groups in the US and internationally. God has chosen to use Cypress for eight years, in the lives of almost 500 churches and 1,000 leaders, in 12 U.S. cities, and 8 other countries. The Cypress Project is city focused and local church driven. Neal’s home base church and Cypress’ host church is Journey Church in Summerville, SC
Neal’s education includes a B.S. degree from University of Georgia and a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is also a trained leadership coach and adjunct professor. Neal and his wife, Joy, have one son, Brandon who is in Greenville working for Grace Church, and a married daughter PJ who is in Charlotte.
